

Requirements include: One hour in pharmacy law every two years. Please consult the Illinois Professions and Occupations Pharmacy Practice Act for more information regarding requirements for pharmacy technicians. Registered Certified Pharmacy Technicians are required 20 hours every two years.

National certification is required to be a Certified Pharmacy Technician in Illinois and is accepted either from the PTCB or ExCPT. Training for pharmacy technology must be obtained from one of the programs or schools approved by the a nationally recognize accreditation agency, such as the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Have passed the ExCPT or PTCE examinatio.Must have graduated from an approved pharmacy technology training program OR verified training from the licensed pharmacist of the pharmacy where you are employed.Provide proof of high school completion or GED, or currently attending high school.
